(Yicai Global) Dec. 18 -- Chinese stock markets ended slightly lower as investors took a breather after yesterday's splurge.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed at 3,394.90, down 0.29 percent. The Star 50 Index, which tracks tech stocks on Shanghai’s Nasdaq-style Star Market, fell 0.17 percent to 1,361.11.

The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 0.26 percent to 13,854.12. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, dipped 0.18 percent to 2,787.78.
