China Stocks Open Down; Cattle-Breeders Rise

(Yicai Global) Nov. 7 -- Chinese stock markets started out slightly lower, but cattle breeding shares were among the top gainers.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened down 0.02 percent at 2,978.15, while the Shenzhen Component Index fell 0.11 percent to 9,849.96. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks Shenzhen-listed growth enterprises, dipped 0.26 percent to set out at 1,698.63.

Cattle breeding rose 1.5 percent at the starting gun.
