Chinese Stocks Close Lower With Financial Firms Leading Declines

(Yicai Global) May 13 -- China's mainland stock markets finished the day lower with insurers, brokerages and banks performing the worst. 

The Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.2 percent to 2,903.71, with a turnover of CNY202.6 billion (USD29.5 billion). The Shenzhen Component Index declined 1.4 percent to 9103.36, with a trading volume of CNY263.6 billion. The ChiNext Index dropped 2 percent to close at 1503.06, with turnover of CNY76.8 billion.

The nation's agricultural sector triumphed among the winners of the day, including free trade zones in Shanghai and central Xi'an.
