Chinese Stocks Open Lower as Tech Firms Drag Indexes Down

(Yicai Global) May 23 -- China's mainland stock markets started the day lower this morning, led by communication network and internet companies. 

The communication network sector pared 2.6 percent and online companies slid 2.4 percent as of 10.00 a.m.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.38 percent lower at 2,880.84 points and moved to 1.15 percent lower as of at 9:50 a.m.

The Shenzhen Composite Index started 0.49 percent lower at 8,997.25, expanding loss to 1.51 percent in 20 minutes.

The ChiNext, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, opened 0.11 lower at 1,486.95 and fell to 1.49 percent negative in 20 minutes.
