(Yicai Global) July 17 -- China's mainland stock markets opened mixed this morning, with the tech-heavy ChiNext Price Index attracting buyers after yesterday's selloffs, following fresh first-half economic data releases.

The Shanghai Composite Index started the day 0.07 percent lower at 3,207.99. The Shenzhen Component Index was up 0.05 percent at 13,002.84. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, began 0.50 percent stronger at 2,659.45.

The three major mainland stock benchmarks had slumped more than 4 percent yesterday after a wave of new economic data, which was mostly better than expected, failed to maintain high valuations. Before that, the indexes had been having a strong momentum this month due to the country's tightening grip on the Covid-19 pandemic.
