Chinese Stocks Stay Listless in Afternoon Even After Upbeat Data(Yicai Global) Dec. 7 -- Stock markets on China's mainland ended today’s trade mostly in the doldrums as investors hunkered down, still wary despite November trade data released early in the morning beating out the odds.
The Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.81 percent to 3,416.60 at the closing bell, while its Nasdaq-like Star Market Board 50 Index, or Star 50, inched up to 1,406.19 in a 0.09 percent gain.
The Shenzhen Component Index slipped 0.38 percent to 13,973.48. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, flopped 0.16 percent to 2,726.48.
China's November trade surplus jumped 103 percent from October to USD75.4 billion on stronger than expected export growth, along with weaker than expected import increases during the month, data Customs released today show.
