(Yicai Global) May 10 -- The Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, the Central European country's premier industry business organization, is working with several government departments to prepare Czech enterprises for the first China International Import Expo, CIIE, to be held in Shanghai in November, Frantisek Chaloupecky, vice chairman of the Confederation, told Yicai Global in an interview.

As one of China's important trading partners, the Czech Republic will display its featured products on this important business platform, Chaloupecky said, adding that the CIIE is a very important opportunity for Czech businesses.

As the country's largest umbrella business organization that brings together employers and entrepreneurs in the Czech Republic, the Confederation is working with the government departments such as the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize various promotional events to introduce Czech products during the Expo.

"The Confederation will send joint delegations in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and is preparing exhibition materials for our members," he said.

The Czech Republic is one of the most important industrialized countries in the European Union, EU, said Chaloupecky. The country will exhibit automotive, engineering, chemical and pharmaceutical products and feature its tourism industry attractions including hot springs and its world-famous glass, particularly Bohemia crystal, and beer at the Expo, he added.

The exports of Czech Republic to China reached USD2.4 billion, an increase of 26 percent annually, and its imports from the world's second-largest economy were USD11.8 billion, up 12 percent, showed data from the EU.

Founded in May 1990, the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic is an industrial and commercial alliance representing the interests of employers and entrepreneurs in the country. It provides companies with services including legal advice, policy interpretation, event organization and business matching with trading partners. It has more than 11,000 members, including companies and entrepreneurs, Chaloupecky added.
