(Yicai Global) Oct. 19 -- German automotive giant Daimler AG [ETR:DAI] has approved commercial vehicle steering equipment made by China's Zhejiang Shibao Co. [SHE:002703] for use in its trucks after the China-made auto parts passed all of Daimler's tests.

The equipment in question is a steering gear specifically developed for use in Daimler's Mercedes-Benz Actros heavy-duty truck, Shibao said yesterday, adding that meeting the German automaker's standards is a new performance high for the company's products.

Shibao became a certified Daimler supplier in October last year, and has since made improvements to management, technological development, production and logistics to meet the buyer's requirements.

Supplying to the world's largest truck manufacturer puts Shibao at a world-class level among auto parts maker, the firm added, saying subsequent orders will be adjusted to suit market demand.
