(Yicai) Nov. 27 -- Dedienne Aerospace's new factory in Shanghai will produce new-generation aircraft engine brackets for China's home-grown C919 jet, according to the French aerospace maintenance tool company's sales and marketing director.

There are about  1,000 orders for the C919, which would require at least 2,000 engines and more spare ones, Guillaume Justamon told Yicai, without revealing how many orders for aeroengine brackets Dedienne received. Therefore, the firm decided to set up a factory in Shanghai to better serve China's domestic wide-body aircraft project, he noted.

The C919 uses engines jointly produced by US’ General Electric and France's Safran, Justamon pointed out. Safran uses engine transportation brackets designed and manufactured by Dedienne, he further explained.

Unlike Dedienne’s other Chinese plant, the Shanghai one will focus mainly on manufacturing new-generation aeroengine brackets, Justamon added.

The Shanghai factory is expected to produce 100 aeroengine brackets each year for the next three years, all for sale in the Chinese market, Justamon said. According to a long-term development plan, the factory will become one of the company's three major factories globally, mainly serving the Asian market, he explained.

"In the next 10 years, China's aviation maintenance service market will grow at an annual rate of 6.9 percent," Justamon noted. “We are very optimistic about the development prospects of the Shanghai factory and will lay out service outlets in other key cities in China in the future.”

Dedienne is a French company specializing in aerospace tooling for civil and defense markets. It entered the Chinese market in 2008 and set up its first factory in the Chinese mainland in Zhuhai, Guangdong province. The company held an inauguration ceremony for the Shanghai factory on Nov. 21.
