Didi to Share Charging Piles With China State Grid NEV Service Didi to Share Charging Piles With China State Grid NEV Service

(Yicai Global) May 16 -- Didi Chuxing has partnered with China's State Grid Electric Vehicle Service to share their respective charging networks and promote the development of the green mobility market.

The pair will jointly build a smart charging network and promote data-sharing between cars and piles, reported Chinese news outlet Technode, adding that they will also join forces on new energy vehicles sales and leasing in seven pilot projects in Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shandong provinces among others.

The two companies also aim to expand their partnership to the energy and financial sectors.

Environmentally friendly travel will become a major transport preference in Chinese urban areas and there are strong prospects for NEVs, a representative of Beijing-based Didi said, adding that State Grid Electric Vehicle Service will set up a comprehensive solution for NEV services and green energy trading for car owners through Didi.

Didi separated its car service platform as an independent operating unit Xiaoju Auto Solutions last August. It handles a wide range of automotive-related functions including leasing, charging and maintenance. Xiaoju Charge is an open platform for charging pile carriers and started operations in January 2018.

State Grid Electric Vehicle Service is a charging pile operator under the State Grid, the country's largest electricity supplier.
