Disney’s Hulu to Let Go Most Staff at US Streaming Giant's Beijing Office, Report Says Disney’s Hulu to Let Go Most Staff at US Streaming Giant's Beijing Office, Report Says

(Yicai Global) March 30 -- US streaming service Hulu, owned by entertainment giant The Walt Disney Company, will reportedly lay off more than 90 percent of the people employed at its Beijing office.

Most of the staff from Hulu’s Beijing office are technical personnel, financial media 21st Century Business Herald reported yesterday, citing a source familiar with the matter.

Hulu's Beijing office has about 200 employees, mainly working on research and development of technologies and products, according to its website, where no job openings are currently listed.

Established in 2007, the office was one of Hulu's first global hubs, and it is its second-largest R&D space, smaller only than its headquarters in Santa Monica, Los Angeles.

Disney will cut about 7,000 employees this week to save on costs, the Burbank-based firm announced on March 27.
