(Yicai Global) Oct. 9 -- Unmanned aerial vehicle startup Beijing Beehive Agriculture Technology Co. secured CNY62 million (USD9.43 million) in its A-round financing led by Tendence Capital, online media outlet Diankeji reported.
The funding marks the company's second financing round after it bagged tens of millions of yuan from e-commerce giant JD.com Inc. [NASDAQ:JD] and others in its pre-A funding.
Beehive Agriculture is one of several Chinese industrial-standard drone makers to raise money this year.
Founded in October 2015, Beehive is a high-tech firm focused on researching and developing industrial UAV systems and machines and providing drone-related solutions. Its core business involves the application of UAVs to agriculture, and its main product, a plant protection drone named Worker Bee, is currently in its second generation.
The firm is now working on developing the UAV further, and expects to release the third-gen product this year. It has set up a plant protection network across five provinces covering 66666.67 hectares, and each of its offline franchisees have completed standardized operations, the report added.
