(Yicai Global) May 7 -- Chinese mainland stock markets walked back this morning's gains to close lower while agricultural firms' shares bucked the downward trend by rising more than 1 percent.

The Shanghai Composite Index finished at 2,871.52, down 0.23 percent. The Shenzhen Component Index fell 0.18 percent to 10,863.28. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, dropped 0.16 percent to 2,106.84.
