(Yicai Global) March 23 -- The Pujiang Line, a fully-autonomous driverless metro line operated by the China-French joint venture Shanghai Keolis Public Transport Operation Management Co., has recently passed the trial operation review. It is the first metro line in Shanghai to use an automated people mover (APM) system.

The 6.7-kilometer Pujiang subway line, which was built in two years, is conducting various tests in a smooth and orderly manner, reported Knews 24, a round-the-clock cable/IPTV news channel owned by Shanghai Media Group, today. It will soon be put into operation to provide the last-mile travel service for residents along the route, it added.

The APM system is widely used worldwide, including the Rennes Metro in France, the Sengkang LRT Line in Singapore, and the Dubai Airport Line in the United Arab Emirates. In China, it is used in the connection lines leading to the Beijing Capital International Airport, the Guangzhou Pearl River New City Line and the Taiwan Neihu Line.

The Pujiang Line is currently the first subway line in China using the latest lightweight body APM300 train with an intelligent power management system, which is more energy-efficient than previous models, Knews 24 said, adding it is also superior in terms of safety and user-friendly design.

Shanghai Keolis is a joint venture founded in 2014 by China's state-owned subway operator Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Co. and French rail giant Keolis Group, which develops systems for trams, subways and intercity trains.
