(Yicai Global) April 6 -- Beijing GeoEnviron Engineering & Technology, a Chinese provider of environmental management solutions, and engineering firm China Road and Bridge Corp. have submitted the winning bid of around XOF16.5 billion (USD27 million) to restore a landfill site in Senegal.

The two parties will be responsible for the first phase of the remediation of the Mbeubeuss garbage dump which serves the capital city of Dakar, Beijing-based GeoEnviron said on April 4. The project is expected to last 15 months.

GeoEnviron will be responsible for around 40 percent of the work and the exact split in earnings between the two companies will be specified in an engineering contract to be signed at a later date.

This is GeoEnviron’s first solid waste management project in Africa and it will not only have a positive influence on the company’s future business performance but it will also greatly improve its competitiveness in the African continent and expand its footprint overseas, it said.

GeoEnviron was one of the first solid waste management companies in China and its services include the construction and operation of garbage treatment plants and also environmental remediation.

GeoEnviron [SHA:603588] closed up 1.4 percent at CNY10.36 (USD1.50) today. Earlier in the day it gained 3.3 percent to hit CNY10.55.
