(Yicai Global) Nov. 4 -- Google has removed two Android apps by Cheetah Mobile and Kika Tech from its Google Play this week, alleging the software engaged in fraud and malicious acts, news website Sina Tech reported today.

CM File Manager and Kika Keyboard contained code that can execute ad fraud techniques, Google discovered after carrying out an internal investigation. Kochava, a mobile app attribution and analytics firm, had claimed that seven apps under Cheetah Mobile and one under Kika Tech were involved in fraudulent activities.

The companies have yet to react to Google's decision.

Removal of the apps from Google Play is a huge blow for Cheetah Mobile and Kika Tech. The two apps have been downloaded more than 250 million times on Google Play, and Kika Keyboard was the most popular input app on Google Play, according to AppBrain, an app analysis service provider.

The two companies can appeal the decision, but Google has also removed the apps from the mobile advertising firm AdMob's networks, Google said.

Cheetah Mobile's other two apps, Battery Doctor and CM Launcher, were removed from Google Play last week. But these were taken down by Cheetah Mobile itself, the firm said.
