(Yicai) Aug. 17 -- Italian fashion house Gucci has opened an online store on Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com, and the two companies intend to continue to work closely together to explore China’s unique digital ecosystem and to tap into a wider market.
Gucci’s highly sought-after garments, handbags, shoes, jewellery and watches can now be ordered with a click of a button on JD.com, the Beijing-based e-retailer said today, which took part in the store’s opening ceremony. Online consultants are on hand to offer advice to customers and to provide them with a complete service.
The Gucci e-store is an important milestone in the strategic cooperation between the two firms, JD.com said. The Florence-based company can leverage JD.com’s new digital experience model to provide customers with excellent services and the latest fashions
Over 90 percent of the world’s biggest luxury brands, including Louis Vuitton, Tiffany, Missoni and Bottega Veneta, have a presence on JD.com, according to its second-quarter earnings report.
JD.com logged a 50.3 percent leap in net profit in the second quarter from a year earlier to CNY6.6 billion (USD902.4 million) while revenue jumped 7.6 percent to CNY287.9 billion (USD39.4 billion).
