Hayao Miyazaki's Acclaimed Film Spirited Away to Screen in China

(Yicai Global) May 10 -- Classic anime film Spirited Away, directed by renowned Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, will play in China soon, movie media Maoyan reported today.

Released in 2001, Spirited Away is the world's only film to win both the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. The date for the film's China debut has not yet been determined, and only its promotional Chinese-language poster has been released, per the report, which gave no further details.

Domestic viewers have a high regard for the movie and great recognition, as over 1 million internet users scored it on social website Douban at 9.3, the highest rating an anime film has ever won on the site.

My Neighbor Totoro, another Miyazaki anime film, landed in China in December to gross a CNY170 million (USD25 million) box office and receive a huge welcome from audiences.
