(Yicai Global) May 27 -- Huawei Technologies has refuted Chinese netizens' social media posts that alleged it will debut its home-grown operating system for mobile phones in late June, The Paper reported yesterday.
Netizens on Weibo and WeChat said yesterday that Huawei will release an operating system of its own in Hong Kong on June 24 in order to overcome the fact that Google will no longer support Android services, such as Google Play, Maps and Gmail app, on new Huawei phones.
"The Huawei OS is likely to hit the market as soon as this fall, and no later than spring next year," the Securities Times reported earlier, citing Richard Yu, chief executive of Huawei's mobile business.
