(Yicai Global) Oct. 08 -- IMAX China Holding took in CNY105 million (USD14.8 million) of box office revenue from 640 domestic theaters in annual growth of 164 percent during China's seven-day National Day holiday that ran from Oct. 1, the company and its Ontario, Canada-based parent IMAX said in a statement today.

This, an historic high, also rose above CNY100 million for the first time, according to IMAX's press release.

IMAX released three domestic films 'My People My Country,' 'The Captain' and 'The Climbers' in its theaters over the holidays.

Shanghai-based IMAX's total box office income was CNY2.25 billion (USD314.9 million) in China as of yesterday, up 30 percent over the same period last year.

Chinese cinemas had received more than 100 million visits as of 4.00 p.m. on Oct. 6 during the holiday. IMAX's domestic box office daily revenue has gone above CNY500 million for seven straight days since the release of these three films on Sept. 30, reaching nearly CNY800 million on Oct. 1. As of 6 p.m. yesterday, China's total box office gross for the holidays topped CNY4.2 billion, surpassing the monthly box office in October last year in a new record, Jiefang Daily reported.
