(Yicai) June 15 -- More than 200 Chinese and foreign stars graced the red carpet on June 13 for the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival, as the annual movie event got underway at the Shanghai Grand Theater.

The stars trodden the what is known as the "top red carpet in Asia" for a Gala Night marking the start of the festival, which runs through June 21 this year.

The cast and crew of Afterpiece, including director Wang Dejian, producer Derek Tung-Shing Yee, and actors Stephen Fung, Myolie Wu, Chrissie Chau, Peter Kam, and Kathy Wong Ka-Yi, pose for a photo. The movie opens this year's festival.

Zhang Chiyu, Yu Baimei, Mu Deyuan, and Sun Bin, who initiated the new "AI Backlot" creation experimental unit pairing human filmmakers with artificial intelligence creative models for this year's SIFF, on the red carpet. They will provide visual expression and industry experience guidance for four film-AI creation teams.

Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, president of the jury of the Golden Goblet Awards main competition section, appears with judges Dora Bouchoucha Fourati, Guan Hu, Aktan Abdykalykov, Dea Kulumbegashvili, Fernanda Valadez, and Xin Zhilei.
