(Yicai) July 23 -- Internet powerhouses such as JD.Com and Alibaba Group Holdings, along with private automakers like Seres Group and Li Auto, have leaped up the 2025 Fortune China 500 rankings, reflecting their resilience and rising impact.

China’s internet firms defied fierce competition to climb the rankings. JD.Com rose two spots to 11th, Alibaba three to 18th, and Tencent Holdings six to 32nd on the list, according to the ranking of the country's largest companies by revenue that Fortune China released yesterday. PDD Holdings, Meituan, and Xiaomi were all in the top 100.

Bilibili was the only internet company to debut on the latest list. Driven by strong advertising and gaming revenue growth, the video-sharing platform reported its first adjusted net profit in the third quarter of last year after consecutive years in the red.

The revenue threshold for inclusion in the annual Fortune China 500 dropped 3 percent to USD3.6 billion, with companies ranked for their respective fiscal years ended on or before March 31. Combined revenues at the 500 firms fell 2.7 percent to USD14.2 trillion, while their net profits rose 7 percent to USD756.4 billion.

Seres, the auto production partner of Huawei Technologies, rose to 169th from 404th, making it the biggest dark horse in the rankings. Its revenue quadrupled to USD20.2 billion in the 12 months ended Dec. 31 from the previous year.

Xiaomi, which entered the auto sector last year, took 76th place after its earnings jumped by are than 30 percent. Li Auto climbed 13 spots to 171st with revenue of USD20.1 billion, Xpeng leaped 101 rungs to 351st with USD5.7 billion, Nio climbed 43 places to 269th with USD9.1 billion, and Leapmotor debuted as 423rd with USD4.5 billion.

Among traditional carmakers, BYD rose to 27th from 40th after its revenue jumped 27 percent and profit soared 31 percent. Zhejiang Geely Holding Group saw its revenue increase 14 percent, moving it into 41st from 54th, while Great Wall Motor climbed to 140th from 158th after a 15 percent jump in revenue and a 78 percent surge in profit.

State Grid Corporation of China, China National Petroleum, and China Petroleum and Chemical, also known as Sinopec, topped the 2025 Fortune China 500, ranking first with USD548.4 billion, second with USD412.6 billion, and third with USD407.5 billion, respectively.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation, Tencent, Alibaba, and Ping An Insurance joined five major banks and state-owned China National Petroleum in the top 10 firms by profit. TSMC ranked the highest among private businesses with a net profit of USD36.1 billion.
