JD Daojia Expands Smart Vending Machine Coverage Across China's First-, Second-Tier Cities JD Daojia Expands Smart Vending Machine Coverage Across China's First-, Second-Tier Cities

(Yicai Global) Oct. 30 -- JD.com Inc.'s online-to-offline life service platform JD Daojia now has its smart vending machines in the offices of several top companies, including Tencent Holdings Ltd. [HKG:0700], 58.com Inc. [NYSE:WUBA] and DHL Express, Sina Tech reported today.

The firm has expanded its coverage to major first- and second-tier cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, it added.

JD Daojia's smart vending machines are stocked using data from JD.com, and use resources from tens of thousands of stores and supermarkets, allowing consumers to choose to buy a range of commodities for less. The company employs many deliver personnel to ensure the machines can be promptly stocked, and only purchases traceable goods so that it can monitor quality.

The platform has nearly 40 million registered users making millions of orders every month. Transaction data, coupled with artificial intelligence, can be used to analyze consumers' tastes in regions where the machines are based, so the firm knows what products to stock where.

Daojia has also unveiled its second-generation vending machine, which boasts facial recognition, smart inventory management, intelligent billboards and gravity sensors to make shopping quicker and more convenient.
