(Yicai Global) Jan.22 -- Kazakhstan authorities have brought in free 72-hour transit visas for Chinese citizens entering the country this year.

Chinese citizens transiting via international airports in Astana and Almaty to a third country or returning from a third country can enjoy the service, the Kazakhstan government said in a press briefing.

Eligible travelers must have Kazakhstan Airlines (including Air Astana) tickets, valid international travel documents and a ticket for a third-country with confirmed flight date within a 72-hour-period.

Air Astana has introduced a large number of discounted tickets, with the lowest round-trip ticket between China and Europe priced at CNY2,093 (USD326), to coincide with the announcement.
