(Yicai Global) Aug. 28 -- Leshi Internet Information & Technology Corp. Beijing [SHE:300104], better known as LeTV and the listed arm of cash-strapped LeEco, was subjected to 33 lawsuits over the past year, involving some CNY1.58 billion (USD238 million) in yuan and USD373,000 in dollars, most of which were unpaid debts and copyright disputes, the firm said recently.

The lawsuits' impacts on profits aren't yet clear, as many of the cases are pending trial or a ruling.

Leshi Zhixin Electronic Technology Tianjin Co. was the hardest hit of LeTV's subsidiaries, attracting 15 suits worth CNY650 million. The Leshi Zhixin unit is responsible for the firm's television sets and smartphones. Its creditors include suppliers, original equipment manufacturers, advertisers and logistics firms. Eight of the 15 cases related to parts and materials, while the remainder was split between service providers and manufacturers.

After debts owed by LeEco founder and substantial shareholder Jia Yueting began to mount, the group's listed unit was quick to reduce his involvement. Sun Hongbin, chairman of Sunac China, the listed firm's largest shareholder and de facto controller, took over as chairman of LeTV while Liang Jun, a former Lenovo Group Ltd. [HKG:0992] employee, became chief executive officer.
