(Yicai Global) June 5 -- Longi Green Energy Technology plans to spend CNY957 million to build a monocrystalline silicon battery plant in Kuching, Malaysia to expand its global business, it announced yesterday.

The company's stock [SHA:601012] opened up more than 1 percent today, but quickly ran out of steam, trading at CNY23.05 at lunch break, down 1.16 percent from yesterday's close.

The project in Sawarak province on the island of Borneo, which is expected to go into full operation by August next year, will have annual production capacity of 1.25GW  batteries, per the statement.

Silicon can absorb a greater charge, and this gives such batteries a longer life.
