(Yicai Global) Dec. 4 -- The main structure of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Village in downtown Chaoyang district has been completed and the whole venue will be ready by the end of next year, more than two years before the games.

The total area is about 330,000 square meters, consisting of 20 buildings, ranging from 13-story to 17-story ones, Xinhua News Agency reported. The venue is only 2 kilometers away from Beijing's National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest, and the Beijing National Aquatics Center, or the Water Cube.

The 2022 Winter Olympics will be held in February. Races of alpine skiing and sliding will be organized in Beijing's Yanqing district. Snowboarding, freestyle skiing, cross country skiing, and ski jumping events will be held in neighboring Hebei province's Zhangjiakou.

The Olympic Village can accommodate 2,260 sleepers during the Winter Olympic Games and 500 over the Winter Paralympic Games, offering different types of food, fitness facilities, entertainment, and medical care. The residential buildings will be rented out after the games.
