Medical Suppliers Avert Chinese Stock Markets' Morning Dives

(Yicai Global) Jan. 22 -- China's mainland stock markets continued sliding this morning but some medical suppliers' shares jumped amid a rising number of coronavirus cases.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.45 percent lower at 3,038.49. The Shenzhen Component Index was at 10,896.55, down 0.52 percent. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, fell 0.45 percent to 1,958.08.

The shares of medical dressing firms Allmed Medical Products [SHE:002950] and Zhende Medical [SHA:603301] climbed by the daily limit of 10 percent. Nine people have died of the new type of virus with a total of 440 cases, Chinese health authorities said today.
