(Yicai Global) Aug. 1 -- China's celebration of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army may have boosted the popularity of military-themed movies. Wolf Warriors II, a new film that tells the story of how a retired Chinese special forces soldier saved Chinese citizens in Africa, raked in over USD147 million (CNY1 billion) in four days.

It pulled in USD17.94 million (CNY190 million) on the first day of its release last Friday and grossed USD91.2 million (CNY620 million) over the weekend, beating Dunkirk, which generated USD73 million at box offices globally last weekend, as the world's highest-grossing film for the weekend.

The stock price of Beijing Jingxi Tourism Development Co. [SHE:000802], a company involved in the distribution of Wolf Warriors II, has risen 21.86 percent in the past three trading days.
