(Yicai Global) Aug. 28 -- Chinese e-commerce mammoth Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.'s [NYSE:BABA] Alibaba Pictures Group Ltd. [HK:1060] and film and television production firm Beijing Jingxi Culture & Tourism Co. [SHE:000802] agreed to jointly build an online and offline industry chain for movies.

The two groups will comprehensively collaborate in areas including film investment, production, publicity and derivatives, Chinanews.net reported on Aug. 25. "Beijing Jingxi Culture & Tourism is a service platform for filmmakers, while Alibaba Pictures has a powerful online marketing platform," said Song Ge, chairman of Beijing Jingxi Culture & Tourism. "This cooperation will link the online and offline, effectively integrating production and marketing."

The two groups worked together on Wolf Warrior II. Beijing Jingxi Culture & Tourism co-produced and published it, and Alibaba Pictures' ticketing software Dianying.taobao.com is the film's exclusive internet co-distribution platform.

Wolf Warrior II has raked in more than USD782.37 million (CNY5.2 billion), Dianying.taobao.com's ticket data show. The film is the first Chinese flick to pull in more than CNY5 billion at box offices.

By cooperating on Wolf Warrior II, Alibaba Pictures and Beijing Jingxi Culture & Tourism enhanced their mutual understanding, said Li Jie, president of Dianying.taobao.com. Dianying.taobao.com will help Beijing Jingxi Culture & Tourism with big data analysis, user positioning and ticket marketing, Li said.
