Runjian Soars on Teaming Up With An-link to Build AI Computing Power Hub in China’s Guangxi Runjian Soars on Teaming Up With An-link to Build AI Computing Power Hub in China’s Guangxi

(Yicai) Dec. 1 -- Shares of Runjian surged as much as 6.4 percent today after the Chinese operator of communications networks said that it is linking arms with An-Link Technology to set up an artificial intelligence computing power service center in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region that will offer computing power leasing and AI model testing services to companies in the region.

Runjian’s stock price [SHE: 002929] closed up 4.7 percent at CNY47.43 (USD6.67) apiece today. Earlier in the day it hit CNY48.18.

Runjian and An-link, which is a partner of US chipmaker Nvidia’s China arm, will build a computing power server cluster and other infrastructure in the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone, the Nanning-based company said yesterday. The hub will serve companies in China and in member countries of the Association of South-east Asian Nations.

The cluster, which will be operated by a joint venture formed by the two parties, will set up a computing power scheduling platform in Guangxi for the unified management, scheduling and operation of computing resources such as graphics processing units and central processing units in multiple zones, it added.

Through its tie-up with Beijing-based An-link, Runjian will be able to leverage Nvidia’s application development ecosystem to roll out world-class industry application models, Runjian said, without giving any details of the investment amounts, the shareholding ratios in the JV, the profit outlook and other details.

This is Runjian’s second major deal in a week. The firm will offer infrastructure and computing power services to a project run by Alibaba Group Holding’s cloud computing arm Alibaba Cloud in the Guangxi FTZ, Runjian said last week.
