(Yicai) July 13 -- A number of listed companies based in China's southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have warned that widespread severe flooding in the area triggered by Typhoon Maysak may lead to losses that will impact profits.

Certain assets belonging to subsidiaries of Zhengbang Technology -- Zhengbang Animal Husbandry Development, Binyang Shuangmu Ding Livestock, and Laibin Songnong Livestock -- were hit by flooding, the firm announced on July 9. The pig pens, breeding equipment, water and power supply lines, and warehouses were damaged by deep standing water, affecting hog farming to some extent, but no employees were injured, it added.

Zhengbang Tech estimated that losses from the disaster could exceed 10 percent of its audited net profit for last year. The affected assets are covered by property insurance, but the final loss will depend on further inspections, damage assessments, and claim settlements, the Nanchang-based company noted.

Firstar Panel Technology, which makes window protection screens, touch modules, and electric two-wheeled vehicles, said that the workshops, some warehouses, and offices at the factory of subsidiary Lima Electric Vehicle Technology in the city of Guigang were flooded.

As of July 7, some 63 counties and districts in 14 prefecture-level cities in Guangxi have been affected by the disaster, with 375,000 people impacted, including six dead, 11 missing, and 130,000 relocated, according to official local reports.

But most companies, including Huaxi Nonferrous Metal, Baling Technology, Baiyang Investment Group, Giantstar Farming & Husbandry, Guilin Fuda, and Guangxi Nanning Waterworks Group, have said that production and operations have remained normal despite the floods.

Shandong Sun Paper's Beihai Industrial Park in Guangxi was not affected, while its Nanning facility continued normal operations due to its higher elevation and good drainage conditions, the Jining-based company announced on July 9.

A day later, pig producer Wens Foodstuff Group noted that there were no significant asset losses at its breeding farms in Guangxi, adding that it had made emergency plans in advance and contacted insurers to conduct damage assessments and claims procedures.

Meanwhile, Runjian said the firm is taking part in disaster relief efforts while maintaining its own operations. The leading provider of digital and artificial intelligence operations set in motion its emergency support plan, organized resources to repair communication networks and provide power support, and donated CNY3 million (USD442,205) to disaster-stricken areas to help in recovery and reconstruction.
