(Yicai Global) March 24 -- Shanghai yesterday discovered nine more COVID-19 cases from abroad, along with one local case connected to an imported contagion, bringing the eastern metropolis' total tally to 414, the city's health commission announced this morning.

As of the end of yesterday, 75 imported cases had been reported in the city, according to the commission.

Four of the new additions are Chinese citizens, four are UK nationals, including a family of three, while the other is a Danish national, the commission said.

Seven arrived in Shanghai from the UK, one traveled from the US, and one from Sweden, according to the commission.

Authorities have traced 26 people who had been in contact with these patients during their journeys and placed them under quarantine, it added.

The city also has another 20 suspected cases, all involving people who have recently traveled overseas; all are undergoing further tests.

Shanghai turned up a new case of a patient resident in its northeastern Baoshan district who went on a business trip to Guangdong province on March 14 and 15 and was in close contact with an imported infection during the trip. This person was placed under quarantine on March 21 after returning to the city and exhibited symptoms later, the commission said. 

Nine people who had been in contact with the victim have also been put in isolation.

As of yesterday, among the city's total patients, four have died, nine are in critical condition, and 72 are stable, while 329 have fully recovered and been released from hospital, the commission added.
