Shanghai to Run Pilot System for Sales Registration in Medical Devices Sector(Yicai Global) Sept. 14 -- The Shanghai Food and Drug Administration has reached a strategic cooperation deal with the district government of the Pudong New Area to begin a pilot project implementing a new sale registration system for medical apparatus.
The system aims to optimize processes related to sales applications for new products while strengthening safety guarantees.
The pilot scheme means firms no longer need to apply for registration certificates and product licenses separately, state-owned news agency Xinhua reported on Sept. 13.
Shanghai previously took a lead in the modernization of the healthcare administration sector when it implemented a new system for marketing authorization at the end of 2015, which split up approval processes for the research, development and production of drugs.
Some 17 enterprises have applied for the sale of new drugs so far, with 18 companies designated producers and 28 types of drugs incorporated into the pilot. Of these, 11 drugs are for the treatment of serious, complicated diseases like tumors and diabetes.
