Shenzhen Stock Index Breaks 10,000 for First Time in Three Months

(Yicai Global) Dec. 13 -- The Shenzhen Component Index, which tracks 500 stocks traded on China's Shenzhen Stock Exchange, climbed 1.71 percent to 10,004.62, closing above the 10,000 mark for the first time since Sept. 12. China's two other main benchmark stock indexes also closed higher today.

The Shanghai Composite Index ended 1.78 percent higher at 2,967.68 and the ChiNext Price Index, which tracks Shenzhen-listed growth enterprises, finished 2 percent higher at 1,755.41. Sci-tech stocks on Shanghai's Star market inched down 0.19 percent.

Shares of securities companies and insurers jumped an average 4.83 percent and 3.74 percent to lead the gainers, while internet finance companies climbed 3.43 percent.
