(Yicai Global) March 29 -- Southeastern China's Shenzhen will bolster its railway network with 13 new routes in order to link up with other cities in the surrounding Guangdong province.
State-backed Shenzhen Metro Group will set up a new railway investment and construction company to develop and operate new projects, including a section of the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen intercity rail that will link up the city's airport with the new financial district of Qianhai, scheduled to begin construction by the end of this year, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported today. Other three planned routes will connect the city with Daya Bay, Huizhou, and Shantou in Guangdong province.
China aims to build 26 railways with a total mileage of over 3,100 kilometers in order to integrate the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to the central government's blueprint. The goal is to ferry passengers from Shenzhen to other cities in the Pearl River Delta within 60 minutes by 2035.
