Sinopec Bureau Secures US Patent for Production-Enhancing Oil and Gas Transmission System Sinopec Bureau Secures US Patent for Production-Enhancing Oil and Gas Transmission System

(Yicai Global) Sept. 5 -- The US has patented the full-diameter stepless sliding sleeve system developed by China's Sinopec Southwest Petroleum Bureau, following in the footsteps Russia and Kazakhstan, Jiemian News reported on Sept. 5.

The technique is internationally advanced. It can change the key link of fracturing construction, improve the productivity and stability of gas wells, reduce construction periods and reduce costs, said Gan Zhenwei, director of the Chinese firm.

Fracturing is an important method used to increase the production of oil and gas reservoirs. It helps to build oil and gas transmission channels and improve production, especially in tight, unconventional reservoirs.

The system has been applied at 30 wells in 376 layers of tight gas reservoirs. It has created a world record for 30-stage fracturing of immovable pipe string with a 100% success rate.

Production at wells using the system has increased to an average of 60 percent higher than conventional wells. Compared with mainstream fracturing techniques, such as soluble bridge plugs and coiled tubing with bottom packers, the reconstruction period has fallen 40 percent and operating costs have been more than halved.
