(Yicai Global) Aug. 17 -- Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. [NYSE:BABA] has finally brought an e-commerce element to Sina Weibo after investing in it. Chinese online retail giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. [NYSE:BABA], which holds a stake in Sina Corp.'s [NASDAQ:SINA] social media platform Weibo Corp. [NASDAQ:WB], has finally added an e-commerce element to the social network.

Alibaba's business-to-consumer platform T-Mall rolled out its new 'Sky V Scheme' with Weibo yesterday, NetEase Technology reported. The social platform will soon release a new channel, named Youwuzhi, which will allow celebrities to show off their purchases and interact with fans online.

Consumers will be able to read product information and place their orders through Weibo, while companies will receive feedback and may even develop and mass-produce products tailored to suit clients' needs.

The Estee Lauder Companies Inc.'s [NYSE:EL] self-named brand, Estee Lauder, recently introduced a lipstick similar to that worn by television star Tiffany Tang when playing her lead role in drama series The Princess Weiyoung. The brand leveraged the social platform to garner attention from celebrity fans and potential customers in a bid to release individualized content to targeted groups, T-Mall said.

Integrating e-commerce and social networks can help brands better understand the development of trends, said Wang Yajuan, vice president of Weibo. They can build their brand and boost business in a three- or multi-dimensional scenario to upgrade their business models.
