(Yicai Global) Jan. 12 -- A unit of Tencent Holdings Ltd. aims to expand its intellectual property business in the entertainment sector with the creation of a new anime series through a partnership with local mobile game and comic book developer Kaiser Cultural Co.

Shenzhen-based Tencent Computer System Co. will supervise the joint project, while Kaiser Cultural will handle the content production, it said in a press briefing today.

Based in Shantou in China's southern Guangdong province, Kaiser Cultural will invest CNY29 million (USD4.5 million) in the plan, while the Chinese tech leviathan did not confirm its own financial contribution.

Kaiser Cultural has also agreed a partnership with Japan's Filosophia Inc. to develop products based on IP related to the popular manga series Yuyu Hakusho. Kaiser also aims to increase acquisition activity of well-known IPs in Japan through the deal.
