The 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit Wushi county, Aksu prefecture, in China’s northwestern Xinjiang at 2.09 a.m. today, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center. As of 8.00 a.m., there had been 40 aftershocks with magnitudes of 3 to 5.3. Six injuries and no casualties have been reported so far.

The operation of 23 trains, including some traveling from Xi’an, Chengdu, and Urumqi to the Kashgar prefecture, was impacted by the earthquake, China Railway Urumqi Group announced at 5.00 a.m. today.

At around noon, state-owned CCTV News reported that all the affected railroads had resumed operation after a railway administration’s safety examination, citing China Railway Urumqi.

Eighteen of the 96 flights from or to Aksu Hongqipo Airport were canceled, and four were postponed as of 10.30 a.m., according to flight information provider Flight Master. Of the 100 flights at Kashgar airport, only 17 were canceled.
