(Yicai Global) Sept. 16 -- A clutch of Chinese mobile applications, including payment platforms UnionPay and JD Finance, as well as instant messaging app Momo and news aggregator Jinri Toutiao, are suspected of collecting too much user data, according to a cybersecurity organization.

Online Chinese-English dictionary PowerWord, Moji Weather, and peer-to-peer lending platform Fenqibao were also placed on the list of apps that could pose risks, including those related to information disclosure, violation of privacy, backdoors, and excessive fees, CCTV reported yesterday, citing the National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center.

The CVERC will step up its efforts to formulate standards in the sector and certify those that qualify, it said. Since 2016, the non-governmental organization has reviewed nearly 7 million apps and found more than 8,000 flaws.
