(Yicai Global) Oct. 11 -- Vittor Tech Co. has introduced a shared locker service system for students at a university in Shenyang, the capital of northeast China's Liaoning province, Shenyang Evening News reported today.
It hopes to roll out the service in other parts of the country in future.
The shared lockers look similar to those in supermarkets and require users to scan a QR code using Tencent Holdings Ltd.'s [HK:0700] vastly popular social media and lifestyle app WeChat.
Rental fees are also paid using the WeChat's third-party payment platform. Daily, weekly, monthly and per-semester rentals cost CNY1, CNY5, CNY15 and CNY95, respectively.
The first 48 lockers were put into service over a month ago, and all of them are currently occupied, the firm's founder Huang Liuzhou said. Nearly 400 students have registered and used the lockers so far, and there have been no late payments to date.
The system will be rolled out in other higher education institutions in the city, and the firm is seeking partners to introduce the service to other parts of China.
