(Yicai Global) Nov. 14 -- The world's first 2,000-ton new energy all-electric self-unloading ship made in China undocked in Nansha, Guangzhou, capital of southeastern China's Guangdong province, officials told Yicai Global.

The ship is built by Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Ltd., with total length of 70.5 meters and speed of up to 12.8 km/h, and it is able to sail 80 kilometers after charging for two hours. Its loading item is thermal coal and it mainly navigates in China's third longest river Pearl River's inland waters.

During the voyage, the ship does not consume fuel, carbon, sulfur and other waste gas pollutants. With zero emissions of PM2.5 particles, it will not cause any pollution to the environment.

The deputy chief engineer of Guangzhou Shipyard International, Chen Hao, believes that the new energy pure electric ship can be the first to use for short distance inland waterway transport cargo, and the system can be expanded to passenger ships, roll-on-roll-off ships, ferries, engineering ships and other fields step by step after setting up special channels and charging networks.

As for the oceangoing freighters and cruise and new energy pure electric ships demanding tens of thousands of miles of endurance, they should combine oil and electricity mode. All kinds of ways and technologies need to be explored boldly, only in this way can shipbuilding industry embark on a new era.
