(Yicai) Feb. 26 -- The cars of Xiaomi Automobile, the electric vehicle unit of Chinese handset giant Xiaomi, are expected to have an ecology that will allow industry-leading interconnectivity among devices, according to a research report by Huaan Securities.
The ecosystem Xiaomi showcased at its latest product launch event is similar to the one Chinese telecoms giant Huawei Technologies brought at the launch event for its Aito EV series last August. Aito cars are equipped with Huawei MagLink, which seamlessly connects rear-seat devices, such as smartphones and tablets, with front-seat ones.
At the event, Xiaomi showcased how its tablet computer Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro can control different in-car functions. With the Pad 6S Pro, users can control over 30 car functions, including seat heating, air conditioners, and music, Xiaomi showed at the event. Moreover, the travel routes users input on the tablet at the back of the car will directly appear on the main front screen.
But different from other similar ecosystems, the Xiaomi one also allows interconnections with smart home equipment, Huaan Securities noted. The demonstration video Xiaomi displayed at the event showed that car owners can voice-control home devices, including cleaning robots.
Another advantage of Xiaomi is that its artificial intelligence system is equipped on a huge number of devices, Huaan Securities pointed out. In the third quarter of last year, Xiaomi’s AI system had been installed in nearly 700 million devices.
Chinese new energy vehicle smart cockpit supplier Lens Technology recently told investors that Xiaomi is one of its main strategic partners. The pair will develop new technologies and products at their joint research and development center, the firm added.
Changchun Faway Automobile Components recently said that many of its affiliates and subsidiaries have been added to Xiaomi Auto’s procurement list. However, the company did not earn much from this business cooperation.
