(Yicai Global) Nov. 28 -- Chinese tech manufacturer and services provider Xiaomi has teamed up with IKEA to make a smart home system powered by the Internet of Things.

All of the Swedish furniture maker's lighting equipment will link with Xiaomi's IoT platform under the partnership, Tencent Digital reported, citing the Chinese firm as saying at the MIDC Xiaomi Artificial Intelligence + Internet of Things Developer Conference in Beijing today. Users will be able to turn their lamps on and off and adjust the brightness using Xiaomi's Mijia app and smart voice assistant Xiaoai.

The cooperation is IKEA's first with an innovative Chinese company, IKEA Retail China's Chief Executive Anna Pawlak Kuliga said at the event. Another executive added that the pair will debut the system next month.

Xiami's IoT platform now connects 132 million smart devices, making it the largest in the world, Xiaomi founder Lei Jun said at the conference, adding that Xiao has been used on more than 100 million terminals and boasts 34 million monthly active users. More than 30 kinds of devices come installed with Xiaoai and 200 others support it.
