(Yicai Global) April 29 -- Chinese electronics maker Xiaomi has opened its first authorized reseller in Santiago, Chile. 

Xiaomi fans gathered outside the store on the eve of its opening and the number of clients rose to an estimate of over 1,500 on the very first day of business, state-backed Xinhua News Agency reported yesterday.

Xiaomi sells handsets, wearables, and smart home appliances in the new shop that has an area of about 250 square meters. The company aims to bring its larger home appliances to the market in the future. 

Xiaomi officially entered the Chilean market last December and it plans to set up six physical stores within this year. The Beijing-headquartered firm has already opened shops in other Latin American countries including Mexico, Colombia and Uruguay.
