(Yicai Global) Sept. 25 -- Chinese smartphone maker Beijing Xiaomi Technology Co. has set a new record in the Indian cellphone market by selling more than one million handsets in 48 hours, averaging 300 sales per minute, online tech news outlet ITHome reported.
The firm recently launched a marketing campaign in the country in partnership with Amazon.com Inc. [NASDAQ:AMZN] and Flipkart, India's largest e-commerce retailer in the country.
The company took 18 days to sell a million smartphones in India last year. It has outperformed all other phone makers in the country this year, and the successful marketing campaign marks a real milestone in Xiaomi's development in the market, the company said.
Redmi Note 4 was the most popular Xiaomi handset during the campaign, and the company's products made up the largest proportion of smartphones sold on Amazon in India, Xiaomi said. It is also the best-selling mobile brand on both Amazon and Flipkart.
