(Yicai Global) July 28 -- Leading Chinese telecom equipment maker ZTE Corp. [SHE:000063] has extended its sponsorship of the RBC Canadian Open golf tournament for three years.

ZTE announced the news at the start of the tournament this year, China News Service reported.

ZTE will remain the official smart phone sponsor of the Canadian Open, per the agreement, but the precise value of the sponsorship was not disclosed. The sponsorship will allow ZTE to engage more with users in North America and in other places in the world, said Cheng Lixin, chief executive of ZTE's mobile devices business unit.

Founded in 1904, the RBC Canadian Open is one of the three oldest golf tournaments in the world.
