(Yicai Global) Nov. 22 -- China and the United States should work together to avoid the "Economic Iron Curtain" that would result from their decoupling, according to former US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.

Severed ties between the world's two largest economies could harm both nations and the rest of the world, the 73-year-old former Goldman Sachs chief executive told Yicai Global on the sidelines of Bloomberg's New Economy Forum in Beijing yesterday. He is, however, optimistic that the economic powerhouses will strike a preliminary trade agreement in the near future.
