(Yicai Global) March 26 -- Huawei Technologies Co. returned to the US market this year after a five-year hiatus but is still meeting with huge resistance. The largest US e-commerce retailer Best Buy Co. announced it will stop selling Huawei's mobile phones.

The electronics heavyweight is still struggling to open the US market with a price cut, Tencent Technology reported. Huawei had sold its Mate 10 Pro at a list price of USD800 but dropped that to USD700 this week.

Huawei released the high-end mobile phone  at its blockbuster return at the US at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada in January. However, US telecommunication giant AT&T Inc. withdrew from its agreed cooperation to sell the phone. Verizon Communications Inc., another telecommunications giant, also cancelled its sales cooperation under reported pressure from US lawmakers. Huawei said that it will sell the handset through third-party retailers, e-commerce websites and its own channels. The company is still allied with third-party retailers Amazon.Com Inc. and Newegg Inc.

Huawei is implementing its strategy of claiming market share everywhere in the world and will develop its business in Brazil after staging its US comeback. The firm will raise its manufacturing capacity to quadruple market share to 10 percent there, said senior Huawei Technologies Pvt. India executives. Its management felt the heat from dipping sales at the end of last year and Xiaomi's miraculously high growth that saw its turnover nearly double. Whether Huawei's remedial measures will have an effect this year remains to be seen.
